Five Twelfths

Olivia Marie is now just about 5 months old.  Wow.  When she came home from the hospital she was a scrawny 6 lbs 2 ozs and now weighs in at a little over 14 lbs 4 ozs - putting her in the 50th - 75th percentile for weight.  she has also grown in height pretty dramatically - going from the 25th percentile to the 90th - measuring 25.5 inches.  And despite Wade's assertions that our girls have fat heads, they measure between the 25th and 50th percentile in head circumference.

Beyond her stats - she is a sweet, cuddly often quiet little girl who flashes her gummy grin and reveals dimples similar to her daddy's.  She is sleeping through the night like a champ - we put her down between 9 and 9:30 and she usually doesn't get up until 7 am.  She has endured rotovirus, a fever and a long bout of stuffy nose - all with pretty good humor.  Of course she didn't go number 2 for almost 3 weeks!  She didn't seem to be in any distress - and I've been told that she must be so efficiently using the breastmilk that all she has to give is number 1.  After sweetening her bottles with some dark karo syrup, per the Dr.'s recommendation, she delivered to Miss Donna a diaper full for the records, followed a few days later by an ennormous deposit for daddy in the bath.  Yikes!!.

One philosophical question that plagues me is why mothers become so obsessed with their kids' poop.  I mean - I just can't figure it out.  But I am - the color, consistency and clearly the frequency.  Maybe one day this ends - when the kids turn 18?  It's a mystery.

Moving on.  Olivia and her sisters had an opportunity to spend some quality time with Grandma who came to visit from North Carolina.  Olivia L-O-V-E-D snuggling up with Grandma and catching some Zs.  It was a short visit, but grandma sugar lasts a long time!
